Stipends
If you are interested in requesting funding to support a summer experience, please select the appropriate category below! Please note students are eligible to receive only one University-funded stipend for summer 2027. This applies across all University funding programs, including Metcalf, merit scholarship, and other College-sponsored experiential learning grants. University stipends may not be combined or stacked.
First Year & Transfer Student Funding
Class of 2030 & Autumn 2026 Transfer students that have secured an unpaid summer internship or research role can request funding for a Summer 2027 experience using this form.
Metcalf Summer Experience Grant
Second, third, and fourth years that have secured an unpaid internship experience can apply for the Metcalf Summer Experience Grant. Applications for Summer 2027 experiences will open on February 1, 2027.
Metcalf Sprints
Students receive a Metcalf stipend for participating in the Metcalf Sprint program. Funding amount is determined by the duration of the specific Sprint.
Academic Year Metcalf Sprints: $1,000 Metcalf Stipend
Summer Metcalf Sprint: $2,000 Metcalf Stipend
Merit Based Funding
First Year Dean's & President's Scholars: Complete this form to request your summer 2027 funding.
Second and Third Year Dean's & President's Scholars: Please complete the Merit Award Disbursement Form to request your summer 2027 internship, research, or UChicago course funding.
You should apply for your internship or research funding after an employer or supervisor has agreed to hire you and you have accepted a written offer.
Students who have been admitted to the 4+1 Scholars as second or third years will be able to request funding for Summer 2027 experiences beginning February 1, 2027.
