Preparing Students for Elite Business Careers

The Trott Business Program is the premier business career program at the University of Chicago. For 20+ years, the program has prepared UChicago students for careers with the most prestigious employers in business, including Bain, BCG, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, McKinsey, and Morgan Stanley.

Thanks to the generous support of Byron and Tina Trott and Trott Family Philanthropies, the program has launched the careers of more than 3,200 successful alumni around the world.

Program Curriculum

The Trott Business Program offers a unique curriculum that teaches you to apply your liberal arts education to the world of business:

  • Business Core: learn essential job competencies for today’s rapidly changing economy

  • Technical Skill Training: get trained in technical skills like AI integration, data analytics, financial statement analysis, and more

  • Soft Skill Training: master the art of building relationships, selling your ideas, and leading teams – some of the most high-demand skills in today’s job market

  • Chicago Booth Coursework: take MBA-level courses with expert faculty at the Chicago Booth School of Business

  • Networking: gain access to a global network of 3,200+ Trott alumni working at leading investment banks, consulting firms, hedge funds, private equity firms, and Fortune 500 companies

Application Timeline

  • Program Information Session: October 29

  • Application Opens: October 29

  • Application Deadline: November 20

  • Eligibility: Open to all enrolled students; especially recommended for current 1st year students.

    • Resume

    • Personal Statement

    • 2 Recorded Interview Responses

Program Requirements

  • Maintain 3.0 cumulative GPA

  • Complete Core workshop sequence in the spring quarter of the year that you are admitted

  • Core curriculum dates

    • Wednesday, February 20 | Trott Business Program Kickoff and Networking Night

    • Wednesday, February 27 | Financial Statement Analysis with Training the Street

    • Wednesday, April 14 | Data Analysis in Excel Part 1 with Training the Street

    • Wednesday, April 28| Data Analysis in Excel Part 2 with Training the Street

    • Wednesday, May 1 | Summer 2028 Recruiting and Networking Roadmap

  • Complete two Career Advancement Career Courses; one must be in one of the following business industries: finance, consulting, corporate management, or sports

  • Attend one professional development session

  • Attend one business networking event (e.g., Career Fair, Consulting Symposium, Finance Sell Side or Buy Side Networking Event) and one Trott upperclassmen networking event

  • Chicago Booth Coursework: to earn a Trott Business Program designation on their final transcript, students must complete two Booth courses for a letter grade. One of these courses must be Financial Accounting
