Specialized Government, Policy, & Security courses are designed to prepare students for targeted recruiting by sub-sector and explore different industries.

AI in Policy: Foreign Policy

Part 1: AI Literacy Fundamentals | October 6, 2026

  • Build fluency in how AI tools work (e.g., prompt engineering), where they add value, and how to use them responsibly

Part 2: AI for Policy Brief Writing | October 13, 2026

  • October 13, 2026 | 4:00pm - 5:15pm

  • The second session of our AI in Policy series will examine real-world policy applications. We excited to welcome experts from the Cato Institute to share insights on research in AI and technology policy.

Part 3: Foreign Policy & International Relations Policy Competition | October 15, 2026

  • October 15, 2026 | 4:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will apply the AI skills they've gained through the first two sessions in a policy proposal challenge related to U.S. foreign policy and international affairs.

  • In teams of four, students will conduct research and develop a short presentation using AI proposing a solution to the designated topic. Groups will present their proposals during the competition to an employer partner, who will provide feedback on the proposals and select the winning team.

National Security Employer Series

Part 1: Aerospace | October 22, 2026

  • October 22, 2026 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will explore career pathways in national security and aerospace and learn about roles at organizations such as Airbus, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, SpaceX.

Part 2: Defense Technology | November 12, 2026

  • November 12, 2026 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will explore career pathways in national security and defense technology and learn about roles at organizations such as Anduril industries, Palantir Technologies, Shield AI and RTX (Raytheon).

Part 3: Intelligence | January 14, 2027

  • January 14, 2027 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will explore career pathways in national security and intelligence and learn about roles at organizations such as CIA, FBI, DHS/FEMA, and DIA.

Part 4: Policy & Think Tanks | February 18, 2027

  • February 18, 2027 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will explore career pathways in national security and policy/think tanks and learn about roles at organizations such as the Institute for Defense Analyses, Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

AI in Policy: International Trade

  • Apply the concepts from the first session to a real-world policy and public service context through a policy brief writing simulation

Part 3: Geopolitics & International Trade Policy Competition | January 21, 2027

  • Students will apply the AI skills they've gained through the first two sessions in a policy proposal challenge focused on how U.S. policymakers can promote international trade and strengthen geopolitical stability.

  • In teams of four, students will conduct research and develop a short presentation using AI proposing a solution to the designated topic. Groups will present their proposals during the competition to an employer partner, who will provide feedback on the proposals and select the winning team.

Part 1: Government Agencies | January 27, 2027

  • January 27, 2027 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • This session will introduce career pathways with government agencies, how they work together, and opportunities for undergraduates

Part 2: Capitol Hill | February 10, 2027

  • February 10, 2027 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will explore career pathways on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., including internship opportunities with the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate.

Part 3: Think Tanks | March 3, 2027

  • March 3, 2027 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will learn what think tanks do, career opportunities and the role they play in shaping public policy.

Part 4: Policy & Advocacy | April 22, 2027

  • April 22, 2027 | 5:00 - 6:00pm

  • Students will explore careers in policy and advocacy and how they can pursue internships with organizations that influence public policy, engage with decision-makers, and advance issues they care about.
