Private Investing Program
The University of Chicago's Private Investing Program is a one-year pre-professional program designed to prepare undergraduates for careers in buyout, growth equity, portfolio strategy and private credit. Students will gain practical skills in deal sourcing, qualitative assessment, due diligence, value creation, and exit strategy, culminating in an Investment Committee capstone and a career trek.

Applications for the 2026-2027 Private Investing Program cohort are now closed.
Eligibility
Students of any class year are eligible to apply, but the program is best suited for rising second-years to align with undergraduate recruiting timelines. Applicants must be willing to commit to the entirety of the one-year program.
Required Materials
The following materials will be required for a complete application to the Private Investing Program:
One-page resume.
Personal statement detailing your interest in the Private Investing Program and industry.
Applicants should demonstrate:
Strong interest in private equity, private credit, investing, and financial modeling.
Academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.
Strong leadership potential and collaborative spirit.
Program Structure
The program will maximize recruiting outcomes by preparing students for Private Investing-specific recruiting through a strong foundational understanding of the investing landscape, modelling skills for interviewing, and networking opportunities.
The program will be comprised of two cohorts:
A core program for a strong foundation in undergraduate private investing recruiting.
An explorer program for structured learning and skill-building for long-term private investing roles.
Student Outcomes
Graduates of the Private Investing Program will:
Develop practical skills for Private Investing recruitment, including DCF, LBO and 3-statement financial modelling and interview-ready skills
Gain access to mentors within the industry to strengthen their networks
Become technically capable through workshops, 1:1 mock interviews, and self-study resources
Connect with industry professionals through networking events, site visits, and career treks
