Research Organizations

For students drawn to the research and policy side of education, these programs offer a way to engage with the systems, data, and decisions that shape schools—rather than working directly in the classroom. They're a strong fit for students interested in education research, policy analysis, or leadership roles at the district, nonprofit, or government level.

Kersten Institute for Urban Education

Based right here at UChicago's Crown Family School, the Kersten Institute connects research, practice, and policy to improve outcomes for students in urban schools, with a particular focus on Chicago. Students can get involved through research assistantships, internships, or coursework tied to the Institute's work, gaining exposure to how data and policy shape real decisions in schools and districts.
